Ask someone close for a photo of right now.
Need a person? Write to dritero.avd@gmail.com. Spot is made by one person, so replies usually take a day or two — but they are from someone who can actually fix it.
Getting started
Spot is invite-only on purpose. There is no search and no directory, so nobody can find you without a link you chose to send.
- Tap Invite at the top left and share your link.
- When someone opens it, they ask to connect — and you decide whether to accept.
- Once you are connected, either of you can tap the eye to ask for a photo. The other person gets one prompt to take a photo now. Nothing is saved if they don't.
Common questions
I can't find my friend in the app.
You are not meant to be able to. Spot has no search. Send them your invite link, or ask for theirs.
My invite link opened Safari instead of the app.
That usually means iOS has not yet fetched the file that pairs the link to the app, which can take a few minutes after installing. Open Spot once, then tap the link again. Pasting the code into Invite by hand always works.
How do I block someone?
Tap their row in People, then Block. They are removed from your circle, anything either of you sent the other is deleted, and they cannot reach you again — not even by re-using your invite link. They are not told. You can see and undo it in Account → Blocked.
How do I delete my account?
Account → Delete account. It removes your profile, your circle and every photo you have sent or received, and destroys the encryption key on your device. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.
I got a new phone. Where are my old photos?
They are gone, and that is by design. The key that opens them lives only in your phone's Keychain and is never uploaded, so a new device cannot read anything sent to the old one. Your account, your circle and new photos all work normally.
Sign-in isn't working.
If you used a magic link, check that you opened the most recent email — an older link stops working once a newer one is sent. If Apple or Google returns you to the app without signing you in, close Spot fully and try once more. If it still fails, write to us with the phone and iOS version.
Something in the app upset me.
Block the person from their row in People, which cuts them off immediately and deletes what passed between you. If someone is using Spot to harass or harm, email dritero.avd@gmail.com — tell us what happened and we will act on it.
Privacy
Photos, captions and notes are end-to-end encrypted on your device, and the key never leaves it. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
